"We are living in the 6. mass extinction event in earth's history, caused by ourselves. To slow down this development, wildlife artists can contribute with their abilities by engaging in conservation projects. "

Elke has a special interest for drawing and painting recently vanished species (Thylacine - Thylacinus cynocephalus, Laughing Owl - Sceloglaux albifacies and others) as well as endangered and critically endangered species (Rüppell's Vulture - Gyps rueppellii, Takahe - Porphyrio hochstetteri, Kakapo - Strigops habroptilus, Sumatran Rhinoceros - Dicerorhinus sumatrensis and others), to call the public's attention to the critical status of many extant species.

Elke is supporting the following organizations: 1. "Foundation Pro Biodiversity = Stiftung Pro Artenvielfalt". 2. "Vogelschutz-Komitee e.V." in Germany. 3. "World Wildlife Fund = WWF". She is a sustaining member of the Museum Heineanum, Halberstadt, Germany, which includes a project center to protect the Red Kite (Milvus milvus) in Germany.

European or Eurasian Wolf - Canis lupus lupus

The Family Park Sottrum, Germany, is an institution for education and an information center about environmental care and nature preservation. Many special exhibitions were arising there, for example "Our Amphibians - Diversity and Care" or "The Wolf in Germany today".
