Afternoon in Autumn
A slough that is a tribuitary of Clear Lake divides into two branches and narrows and you go upstream. Several species of fish migrate and spawn in tributaries and can be found in this slough. Some species are now extirpated, and another endemic species, the Clear Lake hitch, is facing extirpation. It has evolved to survive in periodic drought, flood, heat, and cold, but it does require varied habitat for its life cycle, and unfortunately much of that is gone.
