In 1977, while I was a student majoring in Studio Art at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the Rutgers Geology Museum commissioned me to do a 4 ft x 6 ft oil painting of a Mosasaur, a prehistoric marine reptile from the Late Cretaceous Period. It depicts a Mosasaur based on fossils found in southern New Jersey. The painting hung in an exhibit with fossilized Mosasaur skulls. This summer, I cleaned, restored, varnished, and framed the painting. Thursday, Dec. 15, I'll be at the museum for the Unveiling Event for the restored painting in conjunction with the Geology Museum's 150th Anniversary.
