I've heard many say they don't like vultures because they are ugly. It may seem hard to argue that beauty is in the eye of the beholder in this case, but after spending several consecutive mornings watching vultures soar the updrafts from Attitlan Volcano and preen on the rocky slopes, I obtained a greater appreciation for the colors and patterns in their plumage and the character of their expressions. Cleaning up road kill is just a bonus.
