Lauren is particularly fond of the red squirrels on Brownsea Island, each having it's own individual personality, so consequently managing and preserving their habitat is of great interest to her. Monitoring the health of the local population is also of great importance as a recent outbreak of leprosy has caused a higher mortality rate than in previous years.

Lauren is also very interested in the DWT marine projects in and around Kimmeridge and is currently researching the short snouted and spiny seahorses that breed around British shores.
