Living in Mystic, Connecticut, my wife, Kristen and I are fortunate to have Sea Research Foundation, Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, almost literally in our backyard. We have always been involved with and supported various conservation and environmental organizations, but the committment of Sea Research Foundation is truly extraordinary. In addition to donating our time to their cause and efforts, I have donated paintings to raise funds for their many ongoing projects and I have had the great fortune to observe and paint not only their wonderful collection animals but also their marine mammal rescue efforts. A portion of the proceeds from all of my seal paintings goes to the Animal Rescue Program at Mystic Aquarium.
Spending much of my creative time in marine ares and around commercial fishermen in New England and Florida, I am also very aware of the importance of fishing reform as it relates to conservation. Many of my paintings depict man's relationship to the fragile shoreline and oceans.
One of the best ways we artists have of giving back to the world that inspires us is to donate our artwork and our time. I hope that my paintings have and will continue to raise awareness of the important conservation work we all need to do.
