Grizzly - The King of the Woods
The Grizzly Bear, top of the food chain and if encountered certainly garners your respect. This portrait was done in pencil, graphite ranging from a hard F to a soft 6B. It was done in the style that I have named “Artistic Cartography” in which a map is used as the paper for the art. The map is of the Rogers Pass area, including Glacier National Park, home of the grizzly and was created in 1891. This particular map was last written on in 1893 on December 12th by someone in the Lands and Works Department of British Columbia.
