Thomson's gazelles are relatively small, males standing about two and a half feet at the shoulders and weighing between 45 and 75 pounds. Cheetahs are their major predator, which are able to attain higher speeds, but gazelles can maintain their speed for longer periods and can often escape by making speedy zigzaging turns.
