"Tlou: Tswana meaning elephant, with direct translation as "The Powerful One" and "The unstoppable One."
A beautiful elephant tusker from Botswana. Whilst drawing Tlou, I remembered seeing the elephants, eye to eye, feeling insignificant, yet feeling infinite connection with this superior sentinel of earth. The tusks, magnificent crescents of ivory, unique to each elephant as fingerprints are to us. Within the wild, the tusks remain symbols of both power and service to the ecosystem. Sadly threatened by Trophy Hunting in Botswana. I fell in love with elephants as a child and through my artwork my passion is to keep elephants roaming free in Botswana and my home country Zimbabwe. I am currently supporting and fundraising solutions for the co-existence of humanity and elephants in Botswana. This artwork was selected by jury for inclusion in the Artists for Conservation 2025 exhibition. It has also been chosen for the Virtual Exhibit and is featured in the 2025 AFC accompanying year 2025 book.
