IMPRINT
When a tiny foal zebra is born they are quickly encouraged to stand and in a few hours can follow their mothers and keep up with the safety of the herd. Each zebra’s coat pattern is unique, like a fingerprint or a snowflake. The first thing a baby zebra sees as he stands under the protective, watchful eye of the mare is her unique “A” frame on her shoulder. This pattern is imprinted onto the baby from the mother and the foal’s pattern is imprinted on the Dam. Together with their voice and scent, they can always find one another in the large herds of these beautiful, tailored cousins to the horse.
