Having watched the Quail one afternoon in CA made me wish they were here in the east. After down loading my photos, and looking them over to work out a composition, I zoomed in on each. I was mesmorized by the collar around the males and wanted to capture that glow. I opted to use tranparent oil glazes to build up the depth I could feel in what I saw in the closeup.
