This fabulous bird is only found in a few mountainous cloud forests. It was at one time thought to be an imaginary bird. If you are fortunate, you might join a group that takes the day to hike up to the cloud forest on El Triunfo and 3 days to hike down the othere side.  There is a chance of seeing this mystical bird.  With the mist and heavy fog, the sighting may not be easy but worth every step.

When the guide found this bird, you could see a bit of movement through the canopy and hear its beak clicking. I felt it might fly.  There was a small gap across the path and I caught it in flight just before it disappeared.  One lucky second!
