Listed as an endangered species, the magnificent Snow Leopard population has been in decline as a result of poaching, and from loss of habitat and prey.  In addition, many factors have forced these elusive, solitary creatures to hunt at lower elevations, where they are the scourge of livestock herders.  Numerous positive measures are being taken to improve Snow Leopard numbers.  Improved awareness and favorable actions are proof that conservation efforts truly make a difference.  The protection of this vulnerable species is vital to its long-term survival.
