Save the Dates! AFC Returns to VanDusen Botanical Garden

Vancouver, B.C. - July 16, 2017 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce it will return to VanDusen Botanical Garden for its twelfth AFC Festival  at the VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, BC. Kitty Harvill to Receive AFC's Highest Honor

2022 AFC Exhibiting Artists Announced

Vancouver, BC CANADA - June 13, 2022 - Artists for Conservation is thrilled to announce the 2022 juror's selection of artworks in the 15th annual AFC Exhibit. The exhibit features 200 artworks by 178 artists from 19 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, and USA. 

New Grant Supporting Artistic Exploration Inspired by Pandemic

This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it is having on the artist community, AFC Signature Member, Rob Butler and wife Sharon Butler - also an accomplished artist - proposed establishing a pilot grant concept, providing funds to support artistic exploration of human and nature interaction. Initially the grant will be administered through AFC's Canadian charity arm and made available to the AFC artist community.

Vancouver, BC CANADA - Aug 20, 2021 - Artists for Conservation is pleased to announce that UK artist and AFC Signature Member, Sophie Green has had her acrylic painting "The March", selected for the cover of the 2021 Artists for Conservation exhibit book. AFC Artist Edward Spera to Share Art Adventures with New Expedition Company

Internationally recognized wildlife artist and AFC member Edward Spera has spent over 30 years travelling the globe for up-close encounters with the subjects he paints. Edward recently established Big Cat Expeditions designed to maximize wildlife sightings, and big cats in mind, as they are offering tours with sighting guarantees for Tigers, Jaguars and Pumas. This year, we're pleased to announce that Big Cat Expeditions has become a sponsor of the upcoming AFC Festival.

Guy Combes to Receive AFC's Highest Honor

Vancouver, BC CANADA - May 9, 2018 - This August, internationally acclaimed Kenyan artist, Guy Combes will be recognized for his conservation leadership and artistic achievement with Artists for Conservation’s (AFC's) top honor: the Simon Combes Conservation Artist Award. Mark Hobson to Receive AFC's Highest Honor

Vancouver, BC CANADA - Sept 1, 2017  - Internationally recognized Canadian artist Mark Hobson has been chosen to receive the Artists for Conservation’s (AFC) top honor: the Simon Combes Conservation Artist Award.  AFC bestows this tribute annually to recognize artist members for their dedication to the conservation cause and outstanding artistic achievement. 

A strong advocate for preserving the wilderness he loves to paint, Mark has donated numerous paintings and much of his time to efforts to preserve natural environments.

AFC Festival Moves to VanDusen Botanical Gardens

Vancouver, B.C. - July 26, 2017 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) today announced it will kick-off its seventh annual AFC Festival and international art exhibit at the VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, BC. Bateman Returns as AFC Festival Patron

CANADA - July 1, 2016 - Robert Bateman, world-renowned nature artist is returning for a fourth time as Festival Patron of the Artists for Conservation Festival on Grouse Mountain, in North Vancouver, BC. CANADA - July 9, 2013 - Robert Bateman, world-renowned nature artist is lending his support for a third time as Festival Patron of the Artists for Conservation Festival on Grouse Mountain, in North Vancouver, BC. Canada's Brent Cooke Appointed 2015 Festival Patron

New Campaign to Bring AFC To South Florida

Mark your calendar and join us in Florida this May. The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, BBX Capital Foundation and Nova Southeastern University are working with AFC to establish a new annual Artists for Conservation event in South Florida. The new festival will feature AFC's annual tour plus a selection of artwork by artists from AFC's Marine Explorer's Program. The event will also feature art and environmental education programming for youth and adults, lectures and films. A special teaser exhibit is tentatively scheduled for May 2014 (dates TBA).

Award Winners for 2013 AFC Exhibit

Conservation Experts Lead Discussions at First Annual BC Conservation Symposium

AFC 2011 “Art of Conservation” Virtual-Exhibit Now Open

AFC's Annual Exhibit - The Art of Conservation - has become one of the most highly anticipated events among the nature-inspired art genres.

100's of Youth visited AFC Festival this Week

All week long we've had students from across the Lower Mainland take part in the colourful art and environmental learning activities at the Artists For Conservation Festival. Today alone, we are excited to have over 100 youth from Kids Up Front participating.

The kids so far have been enthralled with watching the artists work, have been asking really good questions after the movie How an Artist saved the Mountain Gorilla, and are taken by Tyto the resident barn owl!

Robert Bateman unveiled his new 24" x 48" oil on canvas original today at the AFC Festival - it depicts a Pacific North-western alpine winter scene with snow-laden trees and a pack of wolves in the background.

Today is the big day. The festival kicks off with the opening ceremonies, awards, and a First Nations performance at 10 am, closely followed by keynote presentations by Robert Bateman and Guy Harvey. We are also thrilled to host the premiere screening of "How an Artist Saved the Mountain Gorilla." The Art of Conservation Exhibit is now officially open to the public as well; grab the whole family and come experience the Artists For Conservation Festival at Grouse Mountain.

First AFC Fundraising Gala only a few hours away - Nov 4. at Grouse Mountain

While the AFC Festival doesn't get underway until Saturday morning, we're thrilled to get things moving on Friday evening with the first fundraising gala (in benefit of Artists For Conservation) we've ever held in the 14-year history of the organization.  Just like the Festival, the Gala will also take place in the beautiful Chalet at Grouse Mountain. And with the temperatures just having dropped down to about 4 degrees in North Vancouver, we can expect that the grande fireplace at the top, a few hundred feet higher will come in handy.

AFC Announces First Silent Skies Mural Tour Location

AFC's 2022 Book Cover Revealed

Vancouver, BC CANADA - July 15, 2022 - Artists for Conservation is pleased to announce that AFC Signature Member, John Banovich's painting "Into the Papyrus", has been selected for the cover of this year's AFC Exhibit book. John is an internationally acclaimed American artist, conservationist and past recipient of AFC's highest honor - the Simon Combes Conservation Artist Award. The annual hardcover "coffee-table" book is published on sustainably forested paper, as a companion to the 15th annual AFC Exhibit, showing in Vancouver, BC September 22-25.

Kitty Harvill to Receive AFC's Highest Honor

Vancouver, BC CANADA – June 17, 2022 - In 2022, internationally renowned artist and conservation leader, Kitty Harvill will be recognized for her contribution to art and wildlife, with Artists for Conservation’s (AFC's) top honor: the Simon Combes Conservation Artist Award. AFC bestows the award annually to individuals for exemplifying the achievements and dedication of the award's namesake.

2022 AFC Exhibiting Artists Announced

Vancouver, BC CANADA - June 13, 2022 - Artists for Conservation is thrilled to announce the 2022 juror's selection of artworks in the 15th annual AFC Exhibit. The exhibit features 200 artworks by 178 artists from 19 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, and USA. 

New Grant Supporting Artistic Exploration Inspired by Pandemic

This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it is having on the artist community, AFC Signature Member, Rob Butler and wife Sharon Butler - also an accomplished artist - proposed establishing a pilot grant concept, providing funds to support artistic exploration of human and nature interaction. Initially the grant will be administered through AFC's Canadian charity arm and made available to the AFC artist community.

2021 Exhibit Award Winners

Vancouver, BC CANADA - August 27, 2021 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce the first round of award winners of the fourteenth annual AFC International Exhibit of Nature in Art to be held September 23-26 in Vancouver, BC. The awards include five AFC Medals of Excellence, which recognizes at least five outstanding artworks in the exhibit, an Environmental Statement Award, and Interpretive/Abstract Award. AFC also presents two Best in Show awards, in recognition of the highest scoring painting and sculpture by the jury panel in the annual exhibit.

AFC 2022 Calendar Art Announced

Vancouver, BC CANADA - July 25, 2019 - Artists for Conservation is pleased to announce that Signature AFC Member, Dorset Norwich-Young's painting "On High" depicting an Arbutus tree of the rugged British Columbia coastline, has been selected for the cover of the 2022 AFC Environmental Calendar. In addition to highlighting statutory and religious holidays, the calendar also uniquely highlights a wide range of international environmental-themed days and weeks.
