Jerry Ragg's passion has always been wildlife. As a muralist and wildlife artist, he is on a quest to merge his experience painting wildlife and large scale murals. Thus, has major initiative "Experience The Wild" was launched in 2018. "My goal is to unite conservation organizations through public art featuring threatened and endangered species. My commitment to bringing awareness to conservation organizations is a motivating factor to why I am a wildlife artist. It is our responsibility to ensure that future generations will enjoy the majesty of nature and ALL creatures that live in it."
Experience The Wild Tour is a a non-profit art project depicting a series of mural paintings on large commercial buildings in metropolitan cities in the US and abroad. It is designed to unite conservation organizations, small businesses, large corporations, zoos, museums, universities, outdoorsmen and students in a joint effort to educate and bring awareness to the public about art, conservation and nature. These murals are a daily visual reminder on the majesty and importance of the animal kingdom. Every mural is a community donation to each participating city!
As Jerry puts it, "All my life, art has played a huge part of who I am. Growing up with nature and visiting art galleries with my mom was laying a foundation for my career. At 8 years old, I got into my dad's paints and painted a mural of Fred Flintstone and Snoopy in our basement. It was then that my parents noticed a natural talent. Because I've always been drawn to large, powerful images, I discovered at 18 that I could have a career doing what I love - art."
Jerry has been painting for over 40 years, professionally for 30. Whether it's an oil painting, a pencil drawing, an acrylic painting, graphite on canvas or a mural. He lives in San Diego county with his wife and daughter. They have two grown sons who live nearby.
