Del-Bouree Bach has always been involved with and supported various conservation and environmental organizations. Living in Mystic, Connecticut, for the past 15 years, Del and his wife, Kristen, are located very close to the Sea Research Foundation, and the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration. His commitment to the Sea Research Foundation is truly extraordinary. In addition to donating time to their cause and efforts, he has donated paintings to raise funds for their many ongoing projects and has been able to observe and paint not only their wonderful collection of animals but also their marine mammal rescue efforts. A portion of the proceeds from all of his seal paintings goes to the Animal Rescue Program at Mystic Aquarium. "Spending much of my creative time in marine areas and around commercial fishermen in New England and Florida, I am also very aware of the importance of fishing reform as it relates to conservation. Many of my paintings depict man's relationship to the fragile shoreline and oceans. One of the best ways we artists have of giving back to the world that inspires us is to donate our artwork and our time. I hope that my paintings have and will continue to raise awareness of the important conservation work we all need to do."
Del has been active in the arts community for over 30 years. Starting as an illustrator in New York, his work regularly appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Review and numerous other publications. Among his other illustration credits are two books by the late Isaac Asimov and work for the New York Philharmonic and Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. Eventually he decided to devote his full time to painting and pulled away from the more commercial side of art. Since then his work has received over 200 awards in worldwide competition and his paintings are included in private, corporate and museum collections in the U.S. and abroad.
Del is a signature member of many professional arts organizations and articles about Del and his work have appeared in many art publications including American Artist, The Artists Magazine, International Artist, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur and Watercolor Magic. His work is best described as contemporary realism and although he is perhaps best known for his paintings of the sea and the life around and in it, Del does not limit his subject matter, but always looks for new inspiration in the world around him. Basically self-taught, he is a keen observer and although he is for the most part a studio painter, he sketches and photographs in the field and occasionally enjoys plein-air painting.
