The Web of Life (2017)

$16000 USD
The hands of these students from my Sunday School class represent diversity in age, gender and countries of birth. They were fitting models to incorporate into this attempt to embellish the words of Chief Seattle, who reminded us that, 'Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself'. By casting a warm glow over these less 'spectacularly' coloured creatures gathered from a lifetime of observation, I want to suggest an element of our time - either a sunset or dawn, to act. It is my belief that awareness is the most crucial determining factor in motivating us to protect those we share the web with. Chief Seattle used 25 words to encourage this awareness, this editorial illustration is my effort to echo them.
