Common cranes are not currently a species of concern, but many factors are in play that could change their status at any time. These cranes are widely distributed over the Asian continent where they are always in competition for habitat, mostly with humans. These cranes favor wide open wetland areas and are most at ease with little or no interference from people. To keep common cranes as a species of least concern, wetlands and other open spaces will need to be preserved and managed for these incredible birds to continue to thrive.
