A Snack for Later (2016)

$6500 USD
I watched and photographed this female leopard calmly climb a big acacia tree in Tanzania and settle on a large limb. It gave me the idea of adding the impala as another point of interest. She had a big branch across her face, but again, that's the best part of painting; I can fix those types of problems with paint! Leopards are always challenging to paint with their complicated coat pattern, but there's nothing like the steady gaze of a big cat, at ease in her world.
