Awakening Pride (2012)

This pride of lions needs to wake up and get active after the long day's sleep. It's time to hide the cubs and head out for the evening's hunt, which is depicted in a relief on the back of the kopje (rocky outcropping in the Serengeti.) I watched such a scene once in Africa and was amused by the difficulty some members of the pride had in rousing certain sleepy-heads. I fear that it may be impossible to witness such a scene soon if the decline in lion populations due to habitat loss and human/animal conflict continues at the current pace.
