Nose to the Ground (2013)

I observed and photographed the white rhino during one of my many visits to South Africa. Back in my studio in Texas, I recreated this spectacular event capturing the white rhino in a dry and parched land. Hiding in the thick bush is another rhino searching for grass. The white rhino is larger than its cousin the black rhino; unlike the browsing black rhino, the white is a grazer. Both of Africa's rhinos are endangered species, with some subspecies having become extinct such as the Western Black Rhino.
