No Quarter (2015)

On a trip to the Florida Keys, my husband and I watched a pair of Laughing Gulls defending their nest from a determined Double-crested Cormorant. It was trying to steal their nesting material to build its own nest, a common behavior for this species. The gulls were snapping and squawking and the cormorant would snap back at them and hiss. Neither side wanted to give up and the fight got pretty harsh. That's why I named this piece 'No Quarter'. If you don't know the term, you've never been a pirate!
