Heartwarmer (2016)

I am fortunate to live in the northern hemisphere where we can enjoy the wonders of the four seasons. As the days shorten near the end of summer, many birds prepare to migrate south. The resilient little chickadee, however, is a year-round resident and must face the harsh winter conditions that are fast approaching. During fall, the landscape is transformed into a spectacular palette of oranges, reds, and yellows. The golden glow of the trembling aspen's heart-shaped leaves shining through the dimming evening light was something I always wanted to paint. Since chickadees are dear to the hearts of many, I felt he would make a suitable subject to incorporate in this scene.
