The Sculptor (2012)

Woodpeckers are the perfect benefactor of the practice of leaving old trees on your property. The termites and ants, found in trees as they decay, are a major source of food for these birds and their young. The tree in this painting is a composite of three alders l had photographed over the years, one which was eventually whittled and carved down to the ground. Nothing in nature is wasted.
