Nature has a way of showing us that all life is precious, helping us to identify with and cherish the beauty of a moment in time. Paddling our canoe on a mirror-smooth lake, we rounded the corner of a small island and drifted towards the shoreline reeds. Bathed in the glow of the warm morning sun, a mother mallard duck with her nine, newly-hatched, fuzzy, yellow ducklings, struggled to keep her active young ones gathered up beneath her. Her instinctive caring behaviour ensured that the little ducklings were snuggled in, safe and sound, in the camouflage of their home.
