Ahsan Qureshi Brings Wildlife Art to Pakistan

Artists for Conservation

Two hours drive from Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad is a mountain resort town of Nathia Gali. This summer, the town will host its first wildlife art exhibit featuring the artwork of AFC's Dr. Ahsan Qureshi. The show venue is Hotel Elites Nathiagali, and will run August 4th and 5th.

Born in 1979 in the town of Abbottabad in northern Pakistan Ahsan is a self learned wildlife artist. Apart from his profession as an Ear Nose and Throat surgeon he has a special love for nature and wildlife. Dr. Qureshi has been painting landscapes and wildlife since childhood. While in a medical school he arranged art exhibitions twice and was awarded artist of mellinium in August 2000.

Recognition only came in 2003 at which time he was hired as a wildlife art illustrator for the Palas conservation and development project in kohistan(NWFP) Pakistan. His published poster on endemic species of Palas valley is celebrated in Pakistan's conservation circles. Since then he has prepared artwork for various nature projects in Pakistan and abroad.
