Guy Harvey Makes Waves in Florida

Artists for Conservation

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) announced that Guy Harvey and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation are providing a generous financial gift that will allow students, faculty and staff at NSU's Oceanographic Center to enhance their research and academic program and also to provide scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students studying marine science.

Guy Harvey is joining a long list of other philanthropic community icons and leaders in having his name added to a building at Nova Southeastern University. Because of his generous gift, the Oceanographic Center will now be known as the NSU Guy Harvey Oceanographic Center, helping firmly establish his legacy at NSU.

While most people recognize Guy Harvey as a marine wildlife artist and conservationist, not many are aware that he earned a Ph.D. in fisheries biology. This love of the marine world, his desire to learn more about our ocean-bound neighbors and his mission to provide direction and assistance in the protection and conservation of these creatures that led to the formation of the GHRI in 1999.

In 2011, Guy Harvey received AFC's highest honor - the Simon Combes Conservation Artist Award for his extraordinary contribution to the conservation cause using his art. AFC has also partnered with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation in the Marine Explorers program, placing teams of artists in the field to study marine life with scientists and Guy himself.
