Award Winners for 2013 AFC Exhibit

Robin Murray "Lost Lands" depicting a jaguar in the Grand Canyon

Vancouver, BC CANADA - August 26, 2013 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce the award winners of the sixth annual AFC Exhibit to be held this fall in North Vancouver, BC. The awards include five AFC Medals of Excellence, which recognizes at least five outstanding artworks in the exhibit, and an Environmental Statement Award. AFC has also created a new Best in Show Award this year, in recognition of the highest scoring artwork by the jury panel in the annual exhibit.

Artists receiving the awards are as follows:

  • Robin Murray will receive two Medals of Excellence for his oil paintings "Lost Lands" depicting a jaguar in the Grand Canyon and "Still Life Mischief" featuring birds. Robin will also receive AFC's Environmental Statement Award for his painting "Lost Lands". 
  • Brent Cooke will receive with the Best in Show Award for his bronze sculpture of crows titled "As the Crow Fries".
  • Judy Scotchford will receive a Medal of Excellence Award for her oil painting depicting an African lion titled "The Hunt is on!".
  • Eva Stanley will receive a Medal of Excellence Award for her bronze sculpture of sandhill cranes titled "The Winds of Change". 

Past recipients' of AFC's Medal of Excellence Award included Michael Dumas, Pollyanna Pickering, Kelly Dodge, John Seerey-Lester, Alison Nicholls, Carel Brest van Kempen and many others. Also Richard Ellis will receive the Simon Combes Conservation Award, announced early this year. 

Robin Murray, Brent Cooke, Richard Ellis will be in attendance at the AFC Gala on September 27th to receive their awards. Congratulations to all our award winners. 

The 6th annual Artists for Conservation Exhibit will be on display at Grouse Mountain Resort in North Vancouver, BC this fall as part of the annual Artists for Conservation Festival. The festival opens to public at 10am on Saturday, September 28 and runs until Sunday, October 6 on Grouse Mountain - providing a spectacular venue to celebrate art and nature at nearly 4000 feet, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A special Meet-the-Artists Wine & Cheese evening is planned for Saturday, September 28th from 5PM-8PM.
