AFC Exhibit Set to Open in Arizona

Vancouver, BC., CANADA - January 5, 2015 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce the opening of its touring exhibit at one of the most remarkable art/science institutions on the planet - the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (ASDM) - a facility that uniquely combines a zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum, and aquarium over 98 acres of desert habitat.

On January 10, the 2014 AFC Exhibit tour premieres in the Museum's Ironwood Gallery. The museum also has a large conservation and research program that work towards the conservation of the Sonora Desert region. The museum's Art Institute fosters an appreciation in the use of fine art as a vehicle for conservation awareness and support.

The last tour to ASDM was exactly two years ago, and that exhibit garnered a record attendance for an opening in the Museum's 52-year history. During the opening weekend, Jeff Whiting will be in attendance for hosted screenings of AFC's three documentary films and for the formal opening of the tour.

"We're very proud to be working with an organization dedicated to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world" explained AFC President, Jeff Whiting. "And we're particularly excited this year as it represents the next step in a long-term partnership with the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum that will see AFC returning every second year." The AFC Touring Exhibit, featuring approximately 50 artworks from the Vancouver show, will be on view in the Ironwood Gallery open daily from 10am-4pm through March 8, 2015.

Expanding on the special significance of the partnership, ASDM Art Institute Director, Holly Swangstu added: "The Art Institute program at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is honored to partner with Artists for Conservation. I look forward to growing the museum’s relationship with such a like-minded, world-class art and environmental organization. We’re excited by the opportunity to enhance our Art Institute programming and to bring diverse inspirational wildlife art created by passionate leading international artists to our students and museum guests.”

Following the tour to Arizona, the exhibit is scheduled to move to South Florida in April. More details, including dates and times will be released as they are finalized.
