Karstad Donates Painting to Raise Funds for Biodiversity Collection

Aleta Karstad, long-time Signature Member of the WNAG, has donated an original painting as well as a series to help raise funds for the Canadian River Management Society
for care of the biological collection at the Bishops Mills Natural History Centre.

MacClintock Receives Award

Dorcas MacClintock was awarded the Anna Hyatt Huntington Award by the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club at the 108th Annual Open Exhibition at the National Arts Club in New York for her bronze sculpture Prairie Dog.
The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club is one of the oldest women's art club's in the USA, being founded in 1896 in honor of Miss Wolfe, one of the counties first collectors and the only woman among the 106 subscribers to the founding of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The premier event in the TWASI Calendar is the Annual Exhibition which was held this year at Bristol Zoo Gardens and Port Lympne in the UK.

Hap Hagood Wins Prestigious Award

On the night of Ocotober 18th, at the awards presentation for the National Sculpture Society 71st Annual Awards Exhibition in New York City, Hap Hagood's work, "Servant of the Sun", a contemporary eagle bust in maple burl, was awarded the Dr. H.A. Fadhli Award for the best carved work in stone or wood. The awards jury consisted of three people: Stanley Bleifeld, Fellow National Sculpture Society; Paul Matisse, a sculptor and inventor; and Anne Hawley, Director and Curator of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dag Peterson who recently published a book on the flora and fauna of the Faulkland Islands has now got his artwork featured on a new special edition of Postage Stamps for the Falkland Islands Philatelic Bureau.

Arts for the Parks - Top 100 Miniature Award

Karen Latham was awarded a silver medallion as the Region I winner of the Arts for the Parks Top 100 Miniature Art Competition with a watercolor painting of a snowy egret from the Everglades. She and her family recently attended the banquet ceremony held at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Yellowstone National Park.
