Vancouver, BC – (April 22, 2012) – Artists for Conservation (AFC), the world’s leading group of artists supporting the environment, on Earth Day launches a video blog to share and highlight conservation stories relating to AFC and its artist members around the world.

Stephen Quinn honored in Prestigious Flag Return Ceremony

AFC artist and Explorers Club Fellow Stephen Quinn was honored and took center stage at one of New York City’s grandest gala events – the Explorers Club Annual Dinner. Quinn’s recent AFC Flag Expedition to the Democratic Republic of Congo was one of two expeditions highlighted during the black-tie dinner in front of an esteemed international audience numbering in the thousands at the historic Waldorf-Astoria Hotel Grand Ballroom in downtown Manhattan.

AFC President Represents AFC at ZACC Conference

Jeffrey Whiting Chairs Roundtable on Art, Science and Social Media

AFC President Jeffrey Whiting has just returned form Seattle, Washington where he was invited to facilitate/chair a roundtable discussion on Art, Science and Social Media during the Zoos and Aquariums Committing to Conservation (ZACC) biennual conference . The conference was organized by the Woodland Park Zoo. Jeffrey has spoken at the conference in the past.

This was a great forum for discussing the important role art can play in conservation in front of representatives of Zoos and Aquariums from around the world.

Artists for Conservation (AFC), is pleased to announce that Stephen Quinn, AFC Signature Member will be departing on Nov 21, 2010 for his an expedition to the jungles of central Africa. He is the eleventh recipient of Flag Expedition fellowship involving a grant of $5,000 US, plus additional support from the Houston Zoo and the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH).

Whiting Speaks at International Conservation Conference

WNAG President Discusses the Role of Art in Conservation with Zoos and Aquariums

On January 31st, Jeff Whiting, WNAG President and Founder presented a talk on "The Role of Art in Conservation" at a major international wildlife and habitat conservation conference hosted by the Houston Zoo in Houston, Texas. Jeff was invited to discuss ways in which the arts and science communities could work collaboratively and in particular how Zoos, Aquariums and the WNAG could work together to advance the conservation agenda.

Jeffrey Whiting The Focus of Special Museum Exhibit


Jeffrey Whiting, the founder and operator of the World Wide Nature Artists Group, was honoured in a special exhibit at the Eastern Ontario Biodiversity Museum in Kemptville, Ontario just outside Ottawa. The focus is the artwork created especially for Whiting's book "Owls of North America" which provides detailed paintings of all nineteen species of owls found in North America. The large format, hardcover book, published in 1997 by The Heliconia Press Inc., is an acclaimed reference book for birders, artists and anyone interested in Owls.
