Vancouver, B.C., CANADA -- (September 23, 2011)- Artists for Conservation (AFC) announced today its 13th fellowship, a grant in the amount of $5,000 US, awarded to Canadian wildlife artist Nigel Shaw of Innisfil, Ontario. The fellowship is part of the AFC Flag Expeditions Program, which supports up to two artists per year in their filed work, studying and rendering endangered species or habitats that deserve greater public attention, particularly in remote parts of the world.

Stephen Quinn honored in Prestigious Flag Return Ceremony

AFC artist and Explorers Club Fellow Stephen Quinn was honored and took center stage at one of New York City’s grandest gala events – the Explorers Club Annual Dinner. Quinn’s recent AFC Flag Expedition to the Democratic Republic of Congo was one of two expeditions highlighted during the black-tie dinner in front of an esteemed international audience numbering in the thousands at the historic Waldorf-Astoria Hotel Grand Ballroom in downtown Manhattan.

American Museum and Explorer's Club to Showcase AFC Flag Expedition

AFC's recent Flag Expedition featuring Signature Member Stephen Quinn, also designated as an official Flag Expedition of the famed Explorer's Club will be featured in a special ceremony at the club's annual gala dinner and meeting on March 19. Quinn is a recent Explorer's Club inductee and senior project manager for the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH).

Nicholls to Give Explorers Club Seminar

Alison Nicholls has been invited to give a Members Seminar, titled "Expedition Journals and Sketchbooks", at the Explorers Club in New York City. The seminar will examine how a journal is invaluable in recording the details and findings of an expedition.

He is the eleventh recipient of Flag Expedition fellowship involving a grant of $5,000 US, plus additional support from the Houston Zoo and the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH).
