AFC Artists Rack Up National and International Awards

Winter and spring has been a successful time for AFC Artists competing for prestigious awards around the world.

In Australia, Chris McClelland Received a special honor - receiving the Kenneth Jack Memorial Drawing Award 2015, presented by the Australian Guild of Realist Artists. The Australian Guild of Realist Artists' Ltd was created in 1974 by the distinguished artists Paul Fitzgerald AM, Sir William Dargie, Kathlyn Ballard OAM and Kenneth Jack OAM in response to their perceived need for an entity to represent, nurture and encourage those artists whose art encompassed the traditions of realist art from Classical painting to Impressionism, Contemporary Realism and beyond.Chris was presented with a painting done by Kenneth in 1963 plus the winner's certificate.

In Canada, Michael Dumas won back-to-back-to-back honors for his work in Plein Air Magazine's competition. Following his 'Best Nocturne' win in the Oct-Nov bi-monthly competition sponsored by Plein Air magazine, Michael won 'Overall Best Oil' for December/January with his painting 'Silence in the Shadows'. Subsequently, Dumas' painting 'Forgotten Chores' won Best Still Life in February.

Julia Hargreaves was selected for 3rd time as Ducks Unlimited Portfolio Artist, along with AFC artists Joseph Koensgen and Tim Donovan. Julia's Sunflowers and Chickadee was selected to join Ducks Unlimited Canada's (DUC) 2015 National Art Portfolio. Tim Donovan's depiction of wolves in the painting "Board of Directors" was selected, along with Joseph's Spring Afterglow depiction of a gaggle of snow geese.
